This is Rey Lo

I’m a San Antonio native, and other than a few years away in Dallas and a small town in Florida, I’ve lived in the River City most of my life. I have two children, Ruben and Elena, who inspire me daily and for whom my love knows no bounds.

My work life has been varied. I’ve worked in the insurance industry, at a television station, a pool cleaning company, and a bakery. I’ve sold shoes, and I was a bank teller for a short time, where I experienced a robbery at gunpoint, but that’s another story.

My personal life has been equally diverse in its experiences. I’ve done a bit of traveling, although not nearly as much as I would like. I’ve had occasion to know a diverse, interesting, motley group of human beings that have challenged, inspired, and, in some cases, angered me. But I’m thankful for all of them and their contribution to this life.

I’m grateful for my life so far, and that’s what this site is about. It’s my awkward attempt at sharing how I see the world around me under the assumption that anyone would even care to know what I think.

If you’re in San Antonio and see me out in the wild, you might catch me running – or, in my case, it’s more like controlled stumbling in a forward motion – along the Riverwalk or around our downtown streets. But you’re more likely to catch me at Roadmap Brewing, Lowcountry, The Lonesome Rose, or sitting at the bar at Bob’s Steak and Chop House. If you see me, say hi, and let’s have an adult beverage or two.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to speak at Worth Repeating, a series produced by Texas Public Radio, where I told a bit more of my story. You can watch that HERE or, better yet, purchase a copy of the book that includes my story from Trinity University Press. In addition to this site, I also write regularly for Boerne Lifestyle magazine.

Thanks for stopping by.
